|
Reconciliation through Education and Understanding. The KAIROS
Blanket Exercise program is a unique, participatory history
lesson-developed in collaboration with Indigenous Elders, knowledge
keepers and educators-that fosters truth, understanding, respect and
reconciliation between Indigenous and non-indigenous peoples.

"Overview" and 1 "Territory Acknowledgments" in plastic sleeve ; 2
Youth scripts, Pages 1-12 (Grades 4-9) ; 16 Youth scrolls, 1-16,
laminated ; 2 Adult scripts, Pages 1-16 (Grades 10 and up) ; 20 Adult
scrolls, 1-20, laminated ; 60 map packages, 2 pages each ; 3
pamphlets "A Faithful Movement For Justice" ; paper bags (consumable)
; blue, yellow and white index cards (consumable), Kleenex boxes
(consumable).

The Blanket Exercise itself takes about an hour and should always be
followed by a talking circle which often requires at least another
hour. With youth, ninety minutes for both the Blanket Exercise and
debrief is sometimes feasible. Do not work alone when using the KBE
and ensure that your facilitation team is Indigenous-led. Contact the
S.D. #73 Aboriginal Education Department to find a facilitator if
